See BATMAN in Theaters Tomorrow Only

Surprise!  Sorry it's been so long since my last post, but work has kept me pretty busy.  Anyway, without dragging this out too long, I wanted to pass off a bit of news that I learned earlier this morning.

AMC theaters will be playing the 1989 film Batman, starring Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson, tomorrow, November 12th, for one day only in celebration of the film's 25th anniversary and Batman's 75th anniversary.  If you're luck enough to be near a theater that is playing the movie tomorrow, definitely check it out.

Growing up, Batman was one of my all time favorite movies.  Director Tim Burton's style is all over this and gives Gotham that dark gritty vibe it needs without going too too over-the-top.  I remember seeing this film at my local drive-in when I was a kid and to this day, it remains one of my favorites.  If you were too young to see this in the theaters, I highly recommend trying to catch this tomorrow night.

Well until next time, stay nerdy my friends...

Get Ready to Feel Old: Game Boy Turns 25 Today

I know, I know.  Its been quite awhile since I've posted anything.  There's been no shortage of news over the last two months, but unfortunately time has not been on my side lately.  Starting a new job will do that to you :)

Anyway, I just wanted to make a quick post today that will make everyone feel pretty bad about themselves:  Nintendo's Game Boy turns 25 years old today...

Yup, let that sink for a bit.  Unfortunately, I was never "lucky" enough to have a Game Boy.  I put "lucky" in quotations because by brother and I grew up with a Sega Game Gear, which is definitely a luxury problem and at the time thought was much better than Game Boy due to its color screen and better graphics.  However, in retrospect, it sucked pretty bad because of a lack of games and it's ability to drain 6 AA batteries in the matter of an hour.

Regardless, happy birthday Game Boy.  If you're interested in learning a bit more about the handheld console or have no clue what it is because you were born after it's time (jerks), Geek.com has a pretty good write up on the history of the device.

Did you grow up with a Game Boy?  If so, what was your favorite game or your fondest memory playing with it?  Let me know in the comments below.

NERD ART: Baby TMNT vs Baby Shredder

I'll admit I've been on a pretty big Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles kick over the last couple weeks...something that I'm sure my fiancĂ© has been thrilled about ;).  I think it has to do with the fact that 1) it's a super fun franchise and 2) we both came out of the same year...1984.  So the fact that I'll always be the same age as one of my favorite properties, makes it just that much more special to me.

Anyway, when I saw the above artwork by artist Carlos Ahumada, aka zeev, I just smiled.  The CG created piece is entitled "Not So Old Enemies" and is just plain fun to look at.  So enjoy.

That is all :)

As always, stay nerdy my friends.

NERD ART: The Invincible Tin Man

Today's TeeFury tee is a pretty cool mash-up between Iron Man and the Wizard of Oz.  The design was created by Dave Collinson, aka whiskysteaks, and really makes the Tin Man look like a badass.

If interested, you have until the end of today to purchase on your choice of a red, navy or silver t-shirt for $11.

As always, stay nerdy my friends...

If Instagram Had Been Invented in the 80s

SquirrelMonkey is back with a new video showing what our digital lives might have been like in the glorious 80s or 90s.  This time around, they take on Instagram.

Fortunately for us, Instagram wasn't a product of the 80s.  Enjoy.

Man Builds Full-Sized, Street Legal Little Tikes 'Cozy Coupe' Car

British man, John Bitmead, built an street legal, full-sized version of Playskool's "Cozy Coupe" car that we all probably had at some point as kids.  Why you may ask?
Just thought, what a wonderful idea to make something like that, but real.
That's good enough reason for me.  It took John roughly 1,000 hours and £4,000 (~$6,500) to build the adult-sized kid's car.  It runs on normal gasoline (petrol in the UK), has fully functional head and tail lights, an air bag, side mirrors, and can allegedly can reach speeds of up to 70MPH (110km/h).  He'll ultimately use the car to help raise money for charity.

You can see the car in action watching the embedded video below.

Stay nerdy my friends.
