New Character Posters for The Dark Knight Rises

Well it looks like marketing for The Dark Knight Rises is coming out in full force.  Less than a day after releasing a brand new poster for the film, six new character posters have been released to consume with your eye-holes.

While not exactly six unique character posters, we've been treated with two sets of one-sheeters featuring Christian Bale as Batman, Anne Hathaway as Catwoman and Tom Hardy as Bane.  You can check out larger versions of the rest of the posters by clicking on the thumbnails below.

Stay nerdy my friends...

New Poster for The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Rises Facebook page has just released a brand new poster for the film, which hits theaters July 20th.  You can check out a larger version by clicking on the image above.

I personally think they could've done better.  It looks to similar to 2008's The Dark Knight poster, and the pose is VERY similar to one of the promo images that was released back then as well.

Anyway, what do you think of the poster?  Do you like it or, let me, were you expecting more?

Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Teaser Trailer for Harry Potter Themed Web-Series: Auror's Tale

I'm always happy to discover a good web-series created by fans for fans of a particular franchise.  This one is no exception.

Auror's Tale is an upcoming web-series which fits within the wizarding world J.K. Rowling created with her Harry Potter series.  Director Leo Kei Angelos and  screenwriter Cassandra Johnstone, two die-hard Potter fans, have come together to bring the "underground wizarding world of New York City to life".
New York City is a battlefield. Dark magic rules the underworld. The NYC Department of Magical Law Enforcement (DMLE) is the only line of defense. Hawthorne is the force's newest recruit and the dark criminals' latest threat. Plunging into the nightmare that his occupation offers, he makes quick enemies of the most depraved wizard gang in America: the ever violent, ever twisted Hellhounds. AUROR'S TALE chronicles Hawthorne's tempestuous adventures.
Red Phoenix Pictures is proud to present this edgy, action-packed web series that's a bold fantasy that Potter fans will love. It's the wizarding world as imagined by fans that grew up with the series, created for fans that grew up with the series. It's the magic of Potter as you have never seen it before: a high-speed, raw, and terrifically twisted ride.
To be honest, I've seen all the Harry Potter films, but never read the books, so I'm unsure how Auror's Tale will fit in with all the established character...if at all.  The production's description has stated that no existing characters will be used as part of the fan work.

Regardless, this series looks awesome and a lot more action packed than what we're used to seeing from the Potter films.

The first episode is expected to be released sometime this summer, so if you want to keep up with the series, you can check out their site here and follow them on Facebook or Twitter.  And be sure to subscribe to their YouTube channel where all future episodes will appear.

So what do you think of the teaser?  Will you be watching?  Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Four Minute Preview to Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man

Last night brought us the newest "super" preview for the upcoming film, The Amazing Spider-Man...but this time the it's a whopping four minutes long.

I haven't kept too up-to-date with the latest viral campaign for the movie, but from what I can tell most of the new footage shown in the super preview is right in the beginning; correct me if I'm wrong, but most of the later half has been seen through previous trailers.

I think the movie will be a pretty fun ride in the theater and will definitely make up for Sam Rami's Spider-Man 3. *cough*disco dance*cough*

Are you getting excited for the latest superhero reboot?  Give the trailer a look and let me know what you think in the comments below.

The Amazing Spider-Man hits theaters on July 3.

Prelude to TRON: Uprising - "Beck's Beginning"

Over the weekend, Disney XD's Official YouTube Channel released a 30-minute prelude to their upcoming series TRON: Uprising, which I've embedded above.
Beck is a young mechanic living in Argon City, a growing metropolis in a far off corner of the grid that has just been occupied by General Tesler, a henchman of the notorious Clu. After his best friend Bodhi is ruthlessly derezzed by Clu's army, Beck seeks justice for his lost friend and launches a crusade against the regime. His rebellion captures the attention of Tron, the greatest warrior The Grid has ever known, who sees the potential in Beck and trains him to be his successor. Labeled with the moniker of The Renegade, Beck sparks a revolution to fight for the freedom of The Grid.
TRON: Uprising premieres Thursday June 7th, 9/8C on Disney XD.

Give it a watch and let me know what you think in the comments below.

Flipboard Now 'Unofficially' Available for ANY Android Phone

This is one of the reasons I love Android...the community of users behind it.

So last week, Samsung announced it's newest device in the Galaxy line: The Samsung Galaxy S III.  One of the exciting new features of the phone, was a temporary exclusivity agreement with Flipboard - a popular news reader for the iPad and iPhone that presents content in a sexy, magazine stylized format.  This exclusivity agreement was to last a couple months before becoming available to all Android devices.  Well that was until this morning...

XDA-Developers board member, Valcho got his hands on a demo unit of the Galaxy S III and was kind enough to extract the .apk file for wide spread use.  I've downloaded and installed the file on my Galaxy Nexus and can confirm it works like a charm.  This is one of the few applications I've miss since transitioning back to Android after having an iPhone for a few months.

As of right now, it looks to only be the phone version of the app, but I'll assume the official app will be tablet friendly akin to that of the iPad.  If you have an Android phone and are interested in checking out the app before it becomes officially available on the Google Play Store, you can download the .apk file here on the XDA boards.

Stay nerdy my friends.

The Transforming RC Car You Wish You Had When You Were a Kid

If you grew up loving all things Transformers, then you'll be super jealous you didn't have this remote controlled car when you were a kid.  Kenji Ishida created this awesome little sports car which can transform into a walking robot and back again in just a few short seconds.

The mini-Autobot is comprised of 22 servos and is the fourth version Ishida has made, with plans for more over the next year.

Now if anyone from Hasbro is reading this, hire this man and work on making them available to all ASAP.

AT&T's CEO Regrets Offering Unlimited Data; Proves He's a Greedy Douche

AT&T's CEO, Randall Stephenson, recently spoke at a conference this week regarding the state of the wireless industry, in which he made some pretty outrageous comments regarding the iPhone.  Quite frankly, they make him sound like a total douche:
"My only regret was how we introduced pricing in the beginning, because how did we introduce pricing? Thirty dollars and you get all you can eat,” he said in the on-stage interview at the Milken Institute’s Global Conference on Wednesday. “And it’s a variable cost model. Every additional megabyte you use in this network, I have to invest capital."
AT&T discontinued their unlimited data in 2010, moving to a tiered plan offering for new customers.  Last quarter, AT&T reported $6.1 billion in mobile data revenue alone...70% of which came from users on their higher-end plans.

He also went on to mention how he worries that services like Apple's iMessage are cutting into the company's text messaging revenues:
“You lie awake at night worrying about what is that which will disrupt your business model,” he said. “Apple iMessage is a classic example. If you’re using iMessage, you’re not using one of our messaging services, right? That’s disruptive to our messaging revenue stream.”
I don't know about you, but Mr. Stephenson seems like a greedy prick.  I'm pretty sure you didn't lose any sleep coming in at #34 on Forbes list of highest paid executives in 2012.  Maybe instead of crying about how you didn't think to screw over consumers right away, you should actually put some work into improving your network.

I can't really imagine anyone actually agreeing with Stephenson (outside of AT&T's executive board), but I want to know what you think.

As always, let me know what you think in the comments below.

Happy STAR WARS Day!!

If you didn't know that today was International STAR WARS Day, then you're probably not a nerd...or a Star Trek fan (I jest).  Well, to get you up to speed, below is the Wikipedia entry that explains the origin for the holiest of nerd holidays:
May 4 is considered a holiday by Star Wars fans to celebrate Star Wars culture and honor the films.
May 4 is called Star Wars Day because of the popularity of a common pun spoken on this day. Since the phrase "May the Force be with you" is a famous quote often spoken in the Star Wars films, fans commonly say "May the fourth be with you" on this day. Current day Star Wars fans were not the first to introduce the line "May the fourth be with you": when Margaret Thatcher was elected Britain's first female Prime Minister on May 4, 1979, her party placed an advertisement in The London Evening News that said "May the Fourth Be with You, Maggie. Congratulations." This reading of the line has also been recorded in the UK Parliament's Hansard.
In a 2005 interview on German news TV channel N24, George Lucas was asked to say the famous sentence "May the Force be with you." The interpreter simultaneously interpreted the sentence into German as Am 4. Mai sind wir bei Ihnen ("We shall be with you on May 4"). This was captured by TV Total and aired on May 18, 2005.
In 2011, the first organized celebration of Star Wars Day took place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada at the Toronto Underground Cinema. Festivities included an Original Trilogy Trivia Game Show; a costume contest with celebrity judges; and the web's best tribute films, mash-ups, parodies, and remixes on the big screen. The second annual edition is scheduled to take place on Friday, May 4, 2012.
In honor of this joyous day, Amazon.com's "Deal of the Day" includes Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray for only $78.99; 44% off the original selling price.  If you haven't already picked up the complete set, today is definitely the day to do it.

Enjoy this day fellow nerdlings.  May the Fourth be with you...always.

The Avengers - What'd You Think?

Joss Whedon's highly anticipated ensemble superhero flick hits theater's today.  I saw the movie last night at a midnight showing and I have to say it was awesome.  The film didn't seem overly crowded (like X-Men 3) and had the right mix of humor and action.  My only criticism, however, is that the overall plot line was a little on the simple side.

Anyway, now I want to hear from you guys.  Feel free to use the comments below to write your own review of the film.

As always, stay nerdy my friends.

Third Trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man Hits the 'Web'

A little late on this, I know, but I felt like I needed to have this on the blog.  The new trailer, which is now playing in front of the just released film The Avengers, gives a better look at what to expect from the movie.  It also gives a glimpse of the overall story line of Peter trying to find out what happened to his parents, that I've read will over-arch multiple sequels.

Anyway.  Let me know what you think of the trailer in the comments below.

The Amazing Spider-Man hits theaters July 3, 2012.
