Joss Whedon to Bring S.H.I.E.L.D. to ABC

After the monster success of The Avengers, it was announced earlier this month that Joss Whedon had signed an exclusive deal with Marvel Studios, to not only be involved with future Marvel films, but also help create a live action series for Marvel Television.  Well, just hours ago, Deadline has unveiled that ABC has ordered a pilot for S.H.I.E.L.D, based on "Marvel’s peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D (which stands for Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate) found in both the Marvel comic book and feature film universes".

Whedon is set to write, and possibly direct, the pilot episode alongside his bother and sister-in-law, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, with Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb attached as executive producers.

While details on who we may see featured on S.H.I.E.L.D. have yet to be revealed, it is more than likely that the television series will tie-in directly to the Marvel cinematic universe that has already been established through Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, The Incredible Hulk, and The Avengers...as well as The Avengers 2 set to hit theaters May 1, 2015.

Be on the look out for future updates on the series as more details become available.

What do you think about the news?  Are you more excited for the new Marvel series or Whedon's return to the small screen?  Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Emma Stone's Blade Runner Inspired Photoshoot

Emma Stone recently did a photoshoot for Interview Magazine, where she helps pay tribute to Ridley Scott's 1982 sci-fi classic, Blade Runner.  The photos, which were taken by fashion photographer Mikael Jansson, accompany an interview with the actress conducted by writer/director Cameron Crowe (who just cast her in his latest project).

In the interview she discusses her summers in Colorado, Taylor Swift, changing her stage name from 'Riley Stone', and experiences from some of her movies.  You can check out the interview here and view more of the photos below after the break.

What do you think of the photoshoot?  Do you think if the Blade Runner sequel becomes a reality, would Emma make a good addition?

Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Tim Burton Inspired Pokemon Art

I'm a huge Tim Burton fan.  I know he's not everyone's cup of tea, but there's just something about his macabre, grotesque style that I just find fascinating...that and he's made some of my favorite movies (i.e., Batman, Beetlejuice, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, Big Fish, etc).

Something that I was never a big fan of, was Pokemon.  I never got the appeal of collecting cards, let alone card-based games.  But, had they looked like these, my feelings may have been a bit different.  Artist hatboy has started a series of illustrations, focused on re-imagining classic Pokemon characters using a Burton-esqe twist.

You can check out more of his work after the break and be sure to check out his tumblr for new character designs and a variety of his other work.

Stay nerdy my friends :)

Blooper Reel and Extended Scene from The Avengers

UPDATE: It appears as if Disney has requested to have all videos removed, so unless you've already watched the clips, you'll have to wait until September 25th.

As we move closer to the release date of The Avengers on DVD/Blu-Ray, a number of the extras have made there way online.

Today brings a four minute gag reel from the film, as well as an extended scene between Loki and Hawkeye (embedded after the break).

Marvel's The Avengers will hit store shelves on September 25th.  Will you be picking up a copy of the film?  Let me know in the comment below.

Cat "Sings" the Game of Thrones Theme

Ok, so let me first start off by saying that I hate cats.  They are smug little fur balls that always look like they're up to no good.

With that said, I did find the above video pretty funny.  While the cat dosen't really "sing" the theme to Game of Thrones, the editing is pretty solid.

If you could get any animal to "sing" anything theme song, what would they be?  Let me know in the comments below.

Stay nerdy my friends... (and apologies for the lack of updates as of late).

TRON Prom Dress FTW

Just imagine how much more fun prom would've been if it was TRON themed.

The dress was designed by Jin Yo and modeled by Scruffy Rebel back in 2011.

Custom Doctor Who Bunnies

Catherine Boucher's Etsy shop, The Stitchy Button, has a number of really cool custom bean dolls available, including characters from Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and my personal favorite, the Doctor Who bunnies.
These bunnies are pleased to just laze about all day.. in a bowl, in a window, or atop some cozy pillows. Half bean, half bunny, these little critters can't hop out on you for the holiday, so invite one over! The bunnies are about 6" tall, not counting the ears, and are made of prewashed materials. Each sold separately.
Each character is priced at $15, expect for the Fourth and Sixth Doctors, which are $18 each.  They are also available in 10" versions, which will run $21 a piece, plus shipping and handling.  If there are any Doctors, companions or other fantasy characters not listed on her store, Catherine is more than willing to take requests.

You can take a look at some more of the Doctor Who themed bunnies after the break.

Man Creates Life Size WALL-E, Makes You Want to Smile

Computer programmer, Mike Senna, took it upon himself to build a life-size WALL-E, as seen from the Disney-Pixar movie of the same name...and it's awesome.

Back in 2003, the California resident built a replica R2-D2 unit, which he would bring out to visit the City of Hope Pediatric - a children's hospital for cancer survivors .  The reactions he received were so strong, that he set out to build something that has a bit more emotion behind it.  Cue WALL-E.

Senna devoted about 25 hours a week for the last two years outside of his day job, working on completing the replica from scratch.  Using absolutely no blueprints, he relied solely on watching and re-watching the film in extremely close detail...and it shows.

My hat goes off to Senna for taking countless hours of his time, just to be able to brighten a child's day.  You can see a video of his WALL-E after the break and can also find out more Senna's journey by checking out his blog, sennaswalle.blogspot.com.

PS:  I dare you not to smile... :)
