Nerd Art: The REAL Real Ghostbusters

Designer Glen Brogan came up with this awesome piece of fan art, which is a pretty natural mash-up between the movie and cartoon versions of the Ghostbusters.
"As a kid I always wondered why they changed certain aspects of the Ghostbusters appearance for the cartoon. Especially since they did a good job of linking the continuity of the two versions; even going so far as to explain why they kept Slimer around and changed their uniform colors. My little child brain couldn't decide if the Busters in the cartoon were really meant to be the ones from the movies or not. So this drawing is my idea of what it would look like if you combined the two."
The design is currently over at SPLITEREASON.com, where you can vote as to whether or not it's produced as a t-shirt.  If you like it, I suggest you go over a vote right away.

Stay nerdy my friends.

Nerd Art: Game of Thrones Game Concept Art

While we continue to wait for the arrival of the Game of Thrones RPG, deviantARTist Roberto Flores has put together a few insanely awesome pieces of artwork, depicting the series as a 2D fighting game.

Take a look after the break for some pretty cool images of Tyrion and Bronn battling Cersei and Joffery, while Robb Stark takes on Drogo.  How satisfying would it be to be able to beat the crap out of Joffery whenever you want??

I think I speak for most fans when I say that somebody needs to make this game a reality.

What do you think of the concept?  If you could make your own GoTs game, what type of game would it be?  let me know in the comments below.

The Darth Knight

So I know this is a pretty old image, but to make up for it, I've also included images of a custom action figure John Harmon (of Mint Condition Customs) created based on the concept above.  You can check those out after the break.

Thanks to @kowalroyale for shooting me over the above pic.

Superhero Film Alphabet

Stephen Wildish, creator of the 80s and 90s film alphabet I posted about a few months back, has come up with a new one, this time taking on superhero films.

Unfortunately, I don't think all of the images above have their own movies...yet (hint on V), but see how many you can get.

And if anyone can guess Y and Z, please let me know, because I have no idea.

Happy Hipster Games

Not much more to add to this other than it's pretty funny if you've read/seen The Hunger Games.  Other than that, below is the synopsis from the folks over at G33KPRON:
Forget the Hunger Games, we have The Hipster Games! In this ironic parody, we see “one woman and one womanish man” from the districts of Portland, Austin, Brooklyn, Oakland and Silverlake in L.A. square off in some games they could care less about.
Happy Hipster Games and may the trends be ever in your favor.

iBamboo: The iPhone Speaker Made of Bamboo

Want a new speaker dock for your iPhone 4, but want to stay 100% eco-friendly?  When then look no further than the iBamboo Speaker.
iBamboo is a natural speaker made from a single natural material, bamboo. The natural resonance of the bamboo amplifies the sound produced by the built-in speaker in the iPhone 4/4S. iBamboo is 100% eco-friendly, efficient to manufacture, and produces little waste. These speakers combine the high-tech of the modern day with the simplicity and aesthetics of nature. Since bamboo is a natural material, no two iBamboos are alike. Every piece has the same functional parameters, but each one is unique in its appearance and beauty. As an added benefit, iBamboo improves the feng-shui of your desk or whatever other place you put it.
iBamboo comes in both natural bamboo and black colors.  They also have an "urban" version made from recycled plastic.  As of right now, the speakers are temporarily out of stock, but if interested you can be notified when they are available by signing up here.

You can check out the speaker in action by viewing video embedded after the break.

Francis Lawrence to Direct Hunger Games Sequel, Catching Fire

After last week's announcement that Gary Ross would not be returning to direct The Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire, Lionsgate has been on the hunt for someone to take up the reigns.  Well it turns out they have found their man in Francis Lawrence, whose previous work includes I Am Legend, Constantine, and most recently Water for Elephants.

However, according to Deadline, Lawrence was Lionsgate's third choice, originally setting their sights on Juan Antonio Bayona (The Orphanage) and Bennett Miller (Moneyball).  When neither directors were available due to scheduling conflicts, the studio made the decision to go with Lawrence, who is free at the moment.

If it seems like the film is being fast tracked, it's because it is.  Star Jennifer Lawrence is also wanted for Fox's sequel to X-Men: First Class.  Surprisingly, Fox decided to push back the start date of their film to January 2013 in order to accommodate Ms. Lawrence for Catching Fire; something that they didn't have to do since they have an option for a sequel for her prior to her joining Hunger Games.  Studios playing nice...what crazy things will we see next?

What do you think of the news?  Are you excited about the choice of director or did it not really matter to you?  Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Teaser Trailer for Star Trek Video Game

Machinima's YouTube channel unveiled the first teaser trailer for an upcoming video game based on the Star Trek universe that was established from the 2009 J.J. Abrams' film of the same name.

Expected to be released in Q1 2013 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, the game will feature a new original story written by BAFTA award winner Marianne Krawczyk, in collaboration with Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, writers and producers of the upcoming Star Trek sequel.  The game is being described as " the ultimate co-op experience".
"The Star Trek video game lets players control both Kirk and Spock in a sweeping journey of epic proportions across unexplored planets and enemy battleships with the latest 23rd century weapons and gear. Kirk and Spock's complementary personalities result in the most fully realized and varied co-op experiences for this console generation."
My first reaction?  Meh.

What do you think?  Does this look like a solid game or just another generic third person shooter that happens to carry the Star Trek brand?  Let me know what you think in the comments below.

New Viral Marketing Video for Prometheus

A new viral video for Ridley's Scott's Prometheus has surfaced, starring Michael Fassbender as David, the "Next Generation Weyland Robot".

For those of you that are familiar with Scott's previous work , you know that androids are no strangers to the universe he created, starting in Alien; a universe in which Prometheus takes place in.
In the very first viral video released about a month ago, we saw Peter Weyland (played by Guy Pierce) giving a speech on all the advances in technology that have been made during a TED Talk in the year 2023 (which includes the creation of artificial intelligence), as well as the meaning behind the title of Prometheus.  In this latest video, we see the introduction of the Verizon powered android, David.
Welcome to the eighth generation of cybernetic advancement. The new David 8 has been re-imagined, re-engineered and brought to life with better technological, intellectual, physical and emotional performance than ever before.

You can check out the latest video below.

What do you think?  Are you getting excited for Prometheus?  Are you looking forward to the rest of the viral campaign leading to the film's release?  Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Nerd Art: Transformers/Legend of Zelda Mashup

deviantARTist ninjaink came up with this pretty humorous mash-up between The Legends of Zelda and the 1986 animated film, Transformers: The Movie, which is entitled "8Bit Formers".  If you've seen the film, you get the obvious tongue-in-cheek joke.

If you like the design enough, you can also get it printed on a t-shirt over at redbubble for $24.54.

The Dark Knight Rises Featured on EW Cover, Plus New Promo Image of Catwoman

Entertainment Weekly has just released the cover to their upcoming "summer preview movie" issue, which features an awesome shot of Christian Bale as Batman and our first really good look at Anne Hathaway's Catwoman.

The issue, which should be hitting shelves in the next couple of weeks, also has a number of blurbs from Christopher Nolan, Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway.

Nolan on Bane: He represents formidable physical strength, combined with absolute evil of intention.

Hardy on Bane's voice: It’s a risk, because we could be laughed at -- or it could be very fresh and exciting. The audience mustn’t be too concerned about the mumbly voice...as the film progresses, I think you’ll be able to tune to its setting."

Hathaway on prepping for Catwoman: I had to physically transform. Chris sat me down at the beginning and said, ‘Joseph Gordon-Levitt did all of his own fighting in Inception. That one zero-gravity fight? He trained for two months.’ I basically left his office and went to the gym and just came out about five minutes ago.

Speaking of Catwoman, a new piece of promo art has also made it's way online, giving an even better look of what to expect from Hathaway's costume. Be sure to check out the hi-res image after the break, and also let me know what you think in the comments below.

New TRON: Uprising Poster & TV Promo

Since TRON: Uprising was first announced a little over a year ago, little has been heard about the series in terms of it's actual air date.

Rumors have run from late summer to even early fall.  It wasn't until this past weekend, that we got our first official confirmation.

Disney XD ran a promo this weekend during one of it's commercial breaks, stating that the series would debut this June. You can check out the promo on Disney's site here (try viewing in Firefox if it doesn't work in Chrome).

Also, thanks to VicSage over at The Retroist, we now have our first look at a brand new poster for TRON: Uprising as well.  You can check out a larger version by click on the thumbnail to the left.

Set between the period of time between TRON and TRON: Legacy, the series will tell the story of a young program named Beck who is trained by Tron himself to become the next protector of the Grid.

UPDATE: Managed to find the promo to embed below:

Holy Batmobiles Batman!

Batman's had a lot of different rides over the years.  Live action-wise, there's been five.  To my knowledge, all five had yet to be seen in one place...that is until Josh Turchetta was able to capture them all via a Warner Bros. event held last week.
On Friday evening, March 30th 2012, Warner Bros. shot a bonus feature segment for the “Dark Knight Rises” Blu-Ray. For the feature they gathered all 5 Batmobiles from television and movies.
I shot this footage using a Canon 5D MKII. Enjoy!
It's a pretty cool video to say the least.  My personal favorite Batmobiles happen to be the '89 ride from Batman and Batman Returns and of course the Tumbler from Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and hopefully The Dark Knight Rises.

What's your favorite Batmobile?  If you had to pick the best one from either live action or the comics, what would it be?

Let me know what you think in the comments below.
