Dan Aykroyd recently sat down with Empire to discuss a various number of things, but obviously the talk turned to the status of the long-in-development, Ghostbusters 3.
When asked on the status of the flim in general, Aykroyd responded that there is still more work to be done on the script and that it must be perfect before moving forward.
"Bill Murray is not capable of such behaviour. This is simply something that would not be in his nature. We have a deep, private personal relationship that transcends business. We communicate frequently and his position on the involvement in Ghostbusters 3 has been made clear and I respect that. But Bill has too much positive estimation of my writing skills to shred the work."I personally don't see anywhere in Dan's comments that they would potentially recast Venkman in a new film, but who knows. When it comes to Murray's feelings on Ghostbusters its a mixed bag. One minute he says he'd be interested given the script and the other minute he wants no part. However, I think recasting him would be a mistake of biblical proportions...like real wrath of god stuff.
What do you think? Do you think this is a pretty BIG assumption on Empire's part? Would you want a new Ghostbusters film without Murray? Let me know what you think in the comments below.
