Joss Whedon Still Has Hope for Firefly

I'll admit upfront that I was a little late to the Firefly party, having just watched the entire series and film in the last year.  However, I became instantly hooked and somewhat saddened by the fact that there is no more past the movie...stupid FOX.

For most fans, the hope is that SOMEONE will pick up the show and give it another chance.  Well, we can all take solace in the fact that we're not alone in our feelings, as the show's creator, Joss Whedon, still has hope for the show.

The director of the upcoming The Avengers, recently spoke at SXSW mentioning his hopes that one day we'll all see our favorite Serenity crew again:
I keep thinking they’re going to call me, crunch the numbers and say ‘Hey, we can make money from this!’ — but they don’t.

I would never rule it out, I love those people. But I can’t just wait by the phone.
It's been 10 years since we last saw Serenity fly through the 'Verse, so where would the story continue if the show did get picked back up?  I kinda like the idea from the folks over at Geeks of Doom, suggesting that the story pick up 10 years after the events of Serenity...although I wouldn't mind ignoring Serenity's storyline just as long as we could get Wash back :)

If the show did get picked back up (and that's a BIG 'if'), where would you like it to pick up from?  Let me know what think in the comments below.
