Real Life Batman Helps Fight Crime in Brazilian City

Former soldier, Andre Luiz Pinheiro, has been hired to patrol the streets of Taubate, Brazil...dressed as the Batman.

Local officials have agreed to let the 50 year-old Pinheiro "help" combat the Brazilian city's crime.  While details of the arrangement are still being ironed out of his cape, it's unlikely Pinheiro will assist in the taking down of murderers and drug traffickers.  Instead, the Brazilian Bat will most likely play a more indirect role in a social and educational crime prevention project which is planned to target children of the city.
I am eager to know how we can work together. If I can help bring the story to even one child, that would be very nice.
My only concern is escalation.  Escalation you ask?  Well, what if Brazilian police start carrying semi automatics, criminals buy automatics;  the police start wearing Kevlar, criminals buy armor piercing rounds.  Now Pinheiro is wearing a mask and jumping off rooftops...

Before you know it, we have a Brazilian Joker on our hands... :)
