The DeLorean Stretch Limo

Say hello to the six gull-winged DeLorean limo.  I have no clue where this picture was taken or if this is commercially available, but I want this so freakin' bad.  If I had driven to my senior prom in a limo like this, I might have actually enjoyed it more.

Star Wars Fans Go to 'Tatooine' & Fix Up Luke Skywalker's Home

Back in 2001, Mark Dermul traveled to Tunisia in order to visit where his favorite movie was shot.  That movie is Star Wars.

Many fans of the series may know that Tunisia doubled as the desert planet Luke Skywalker called home - Tatooine.  Over the years, Dermul went back on multiple occasions and guided over 50 other fans to locations where the blockbuster franchise was shot.  However, by 2010 he noticed the Lars Homstead was in pretty bad shape and set out to begin a restoration project.

The Lars Homstead, which was featured in three of the six Star Wars films, was basically abandoned and left at the mercy of the brutal desert climate.  However, Dermul, being the hardcore fan that he is, couldn't just let such a great piece of sci-fi history fade off into the double sunset.  In July of 2010, he started the "Save Lars Restoration Project" with a group of other like-mined fans.  After gaining the blessing from the Lucas Arts’ Head of Fan Relations, they were able to raise $10,000 for the project.  The biggest obstacle was getting the OK from the Tunisian government, which finally gave them the green light in December 2011.

Working in nearly 115-degree heat, they finally finished their restoration this past May and I must say, it looks pretty great.  I've posted some of the photos from the project below after the break, along with a video of the restoration's final day.  Be sure to check out Dermul's website which also documents the project.

Judgement is Coming - First Trailer for Dredd Now Online

The first trailer for Lionsgate's Dredd, starring Karl Urban, has made it's way online.  You can check out the official synopsis of the film below:
The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One- a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge – a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of “Slo-Mo” experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed.

During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture- a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan’s inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound’s control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival.
Not really knowing much about the Judge Dredd character from the comics, this certainly looks a lot better than 1995's Judge Dredd, starring Sylvester Stallone.  I like the grittiness that I do know the character is supposed to have, but the story seems kind of...lacking.  I guess we'll have to wait and see on this one.

Dredd hits theaters September 21st.

Newest Trailer for The Dark Knight Rises is Full of Epicness

Above is the latest trailer for The Dark Knight Rises, presented by Nokia.  By the look of the trailer, I'd say that Christopher Nolan surpassed the epicness and scale of 2008's The Dark Knight...a task I wasn't sure was possible.

All I have to say is that July 20th can't get hear fast enough.

As always, let me know what you think in the comments below.

First Look at Angelina Jolie in Disney's Maleficent

Walt Disney Studios has just released the first promo shot from their upcoming film, Maleficent, starring Angelina Jolie.  You can take a much closer look by clicking on the image above.

My first reaction?....meh.  While she still retains Maleficent's classic look from Sleeping Beauty, the design looks somewhat uninspired.  But I'll reserve final judgement until a trailer is released.

You can check out the full press release after the break.

What do you think?  Yay or nay to our first look?  Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Official Photo Reveals Merle Dixon Returns in Season 3 of The Walking Dead

AMC has just released a brand new photo for The Walking Dead, which pretty much confrims that Michael Rooker's character from Season 1 will be returning.  We haven't really seen Merle Dixon since he disappeared from the rooftop (minus a hand) early on in the first season, so it will be interesting to see what his demeanor is in Season 3 (Season 2 doesn't count because it was a hallucination).
Since being abandoned on a rooftop in Season 1, Merle Dixon has been the source of fervent fan speculation. (Where is he? Is he alive?) Today, AMC confirms that Merle (Michael Rooker) will return in The Walking Dead Season 3. Check out this first look at the character -- sporting a new arm accessory.
AMC also has a few another photos as part of their Season 3 gallery.  They include some pretty cool character shots fan favorite Michonne (Danai Gurira), Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and our first look at The Governor (David Morrissey)...which I failed to report on a few weeks ago (my bad).  I've included those below, so be sure to check them out after the break.

What are you most excited about or hope to happen in Season 3?  Let me know in the comments below.

Portal Gun in Real Life

This little fan film was created by Jason Craft, using what I can only guess is the NECA Portal gun that was released recently.
My interpretation of what a real POrtal gun would be like if one existed. Based on the video game, POrtal. I tried to match the game as close as possible. This was the most challenging project I have ever undertaken, consisting of 3D tracking, seamless camera cuts and 3D camera projection. This started out as an experiment since I didn't think I could even pull it off, if I knew it would've turned out as good as it did I would've put more of a story behind it. O well, it makes up for in Visual Effects, ENJOY!
What would you do if you had a real life Portal gun?  Let me know in the comments below.

Bill Murray Comments on Ghostbusters 3 - "We'll Try Again."

The question of whether or not there will be a Ghostbusters 3 has always pretty much hinged on whether or not Bill Murray would be involved.  Back in March, it was pretty much definitive that Murray wanted nothing to do with a third film.

Well throw whatever you know right out the window, because the "will he or won't he" drama has just picked up...again.

In a recent appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman, Murray was again asked on whether or not he would do another Ghostbusters movie:
Well, that’s all that they wanted to know at Cannes, too. You know, you just gotta have a really good script. It’s hard. Even the second ‘Ghostbusters’ wasn’t as much fun for me as the first one. It’s hard to make a sequel. It’s gotta be really funny, and that first one was just so darn funny.
Letterman then followed up by asking if Murray knew if anyone was currently working on a new script, where he responded, "Well I think...We'll try again.  I always drag my feet on it."

There are two interesting things that I find from this interview.  1) Murray knows that he is the hold up if there is ever going to be a Ghostbusters 3 and 2) he actually seems to be giving a genuine response to the GB3 question that he normally either shrugs off completely or gives a pretty over-the-top answer to.

However, it could just be my fanboyish getting in the way of my judgement, as Murray's feelings towards GB3 seems to change based on the day of the week.  Take a look at the interview after the break and decide for yourself.  Ghostbusters talk takes place around the 2:00 minute mark.

And as always, let me know what you think in the comments below.

UPDATE: Michael Bay's Ninja Turtles to Start Filming This Year...Well Maybe Not

Well, hold on to your shells Turtle fans...things are about to get interesting.  According to The Province, Paramount Pictures is looking to begin principal photography late summer/early fall of this year in Vancouver, using motion-captured CGI Turtles (ala Rise of the Planet of the Apes).

Ninja Turtles is being directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans) with it's screenplay written by Josh Appelbaum and AndrĂ© Nemec (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol).  Much to the chagrin of most TMNT fans, Michael Bay's production company, Platinum Dunes, will be producing the movie with some sort of involvement from Bay.

Back in March, Bay set the inter-webs on fire by hinting at a possible change to the Turtles origin, mentioning they would come from "an alien race".  Later he responded to fans outrage by basically telling them to "chill".

UPDATE:  Word has come out saying that Paramount has put a halt on production of the film and has pushed it's released date back to May 2014.  The Hollywood Reporter is saying that the reason for the delay is the script, and that the studio has laid of all preproduction staff with the work stoppage being "indefinite".

Whatever the case, I'm a hesitant to see what is made with Bay pulling the strings.  While I have been a fan of his Transformers films, I can see most of the criticisms many fans like to point out with the franchise.  However, the Turtles happen to be a sacred part of my childhood (wasn't too into Transformers as a kid), so I'm hoping he doesn't completely screw the pooch on this one.

What do you guys think?  Are you excited for a new Turtles movie?  Are you expecting it to be a disaster with Bay at the helm?

Let me know what you think in the comments below.
